What to expect

Review from the initial consultation

This is usually 1 – 6 weeks later and dependent on the plan for the initial consultation. This is to discuss your personalised treatment plan and/or any blood tests or other investigations. At this appointment options for the bespoke medication can be discussed that will complement your needs after the investigation results are available. Your prescriptions will be issued by Dr Sean Holt and sent to the Specialist Pharmacy. You should be able to notice changes in your symptoms within 8 weeks whilst taking your BHRT medication. If you have not been prescribed BHRT or medication and are using other valid lifestyle methods your results could take longer.

Review appointments

If you receive a prescription Dr Sean Holt will need to review your progress and symptoms every 3 months, whilst you are taking the medication to see if changes need to be made. Please note, at present we deliberately do not receive a fee for prescribing nor do we charge a prescription fee or charge. This is to ensure there is no financial incentive for prescribing. We do of course charge for the 3 monthly review appointment, but there is no way around this to deliver a safe effective service. Regular blood testing will be needed every 3 months if these are stable this could be 6 – 12 months of if there are any issues. Appropriate screening maybe recommended and includes pelvic ultrasound scan to monitor endometrial thickness and health of the ovaries. As previously stated, If you have not been prescribed BHRT or medication and are using other valid lifestyle methods your results could take longer and any review appointments will usually be agreed between us.
